The Nokia Media Streamer was launched in India by Flipkart to take on the Xiaomi Mi Box 4K.

The streaming device segment in India is heating up. After Xiaomi launched Mi Box 4K and Mi TV Stick in the country, Flipkart launched Nokia Media Streamer. Flipkart operates the television segment for Nokia in India.

In recent times, we've seen Flipkart launch some affordable Nokia smart TVs. The Nokia Media Streamer is an Android TV box, similar to the Mi Box 4K and is priced at Rs 3,499. However, the new Nokia Media Streamer does not offer 4K support, which is a shame considering its counterpart offers the same functionality for the same price. Read on to find out more about Nokia Media Streamer.

Nokia Media Streamer: Features and Specifications

The Nokia Media Streamer will have Full HD (1920 * 1080) support at 60 fps. There is a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of ROM underneath. Flipkart confirmed that Nokia Media Streamer provides dual-band Wi-Fi support and is also equipped with a multi-I / O antenna for better reception. The device also offers the Dolby Digital Audio function.

Furthermore, it works with the Android TV 9.0 operating system. The built-in Chromecast feature also allows users to cast their mobile phone screens to TV, while Google Home supports all apps available on the Google Play Store. The remote is voice-enabled and has Netflix and ZEE5 hotkeys.

As you can see, the remote has the ZEE5 hotkey and it is the first time in India that we see this option. ZEE5 is redoubling its efforts to reach more users.

The company price tagged for Nokia Media Streamer is at Rs 3499. While the features of the device are very much on par with the Xiaomi Mi Box 4K, the lack of 4K support won't inspire confidence in many.

The newly released device can be picked up via Flipkart. It will be interesting to see how this device is sold in India. For the uninitiated, users with a non-Smart TV can make full use of these Android TV boxes.
