The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) administers the EPF scheme. Each member of EPFO is allotted a 12 digit unique identification number. This is called Universal Account Number (UAN). UAN facilitates EPF accounts management. It enables members to access various online services without depending on their employers. It acts as a central point to link multiple Member Identification Numbers (Member ID) assigned to an individual.
How to generate UAN number in EPFO by employees?
- Employees should have Aadhaar number linked with registered mobile number.
- First, member should visit EPFO official portal i.e Unified Member Portal - https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Just scroll down and you'll find right side 'Direct UAN Allotment by Employees' link click on it.
- Here, employment details are to be provided, to generate UAN number.
How to know UAN number with mobile number?
- After opening Unified Member Portal, now enter the registered mobile number with EPFO which is also linked with Aadhar card.
- Next enter CAPTCHA details in box provided, After that click on 'Get Authorization Pin' i.e Get OTP button.
- Enter the PIN number i.e OTP received on the registered mobile number.
- Enter details like name, date of birth (as per EPFO records) and select one of Aadhaar, PAN or Member ID.
- Finally click on 'Show My UAN' number button. That is it you've successfully generated your EPF UAN number online.
How to activate UAN number online?
- To activate UAN number first open EPF member portal or UMANG app.
- Select 'Activate UAN' or 'UAN Activation' option under Employee Centric Services.
- Choose one of the options like UAN, Member ID, Aadhaar, PAN.
- Additional details like name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID should be entered.
- Then click on 'Get Authorization Pin' i.e Get OTP button.
- Enter the authorization pin i.e OTP received on the registered mobile number and click on 'Validate OTP and Activate UAN'.
- After activation, UAN password will come to mobile number, now one can login to unified member portal using UAN, password.
